Our goal is simple: information that usually never leaves Japan — seasonal events, local favourites, hidden corners of the Kii Peninsula — made discoverable for travellers everywhere.

How we curate

Every entry is selected and summarised by hand. Summaries are original texts written for this site, and the headings of the source article are translated so you can see what the full piece covers. We always link prominently to the original, and we encourage you to read it — modern browsers translate Japanese pages remarkably well.

Quoted titles, excerpts and images remain the property of their original publishers. If you are a publisher and would like a correction or removal, please get in touch.
